Precision Performance Hardware for the BMW 2 Series Platform
The BMW 2 Series is celebrated for its compact wheelbase, aggressive rear-wheel-drive dynamics, and high-headroom turbocharged powertrains. Whether you are daily driving an F22 220d or a 240i, hunting lap times in an F87 M2 Competition, or dialling in an xDrive G42 M240i, reaching consistent Stage 2 and Stage 3 horsepower numbers requires removing restrictive factory thermal barriers and exhaust choke points.
Our performance catalogue targets the three critical hardware upgrades required to safely increase airflow, lower temperatures, and hold peak boost across the entire rev band:
-
Billet Hybrid Turbochargers: Engineered using larger, lightweight CNC-machined billet compressor wheels, high-flow exhaust turbine profiles, and reinforced 360-degree thrust bearings. These units mount to factory manifold locations, pairing with OEM oil and coolant lines while flowing significantly more air mass than factory turbochargers without premature boost drop-off.
-
Direct-Fit Stepped Intercoolers & Radiator Upgrades: Repetitive pulls on standard cooling quickly induce heat soak, forcing the factory ECU to pull ignition timing to prevent detonation. Our bar-and-plate intercoolers provide expanded frontal surface areas and deep core volumes to slash intake air temperatures (IATs) and maintain charge air density.
-
T304 Stainless Steel Downpipes (Sports-Cat & Catless): Eliminating the restrictive primary catalytic converter or gasoline particulate filter (GPF) directly downstream of the hot side drastically drops exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs). Mandrel-bent pipework reduces turbine backpressure, yielding sharper throttle response and faster spool-up across the RPM range.

Fitment & Tuning FAQ
What hardware is mandatory for a Stage 2 ECU tune on a BMW 2 Series?
A high-flow sports-cat or catless downpipe is the core hardware requirement to relieve backpressure against the turbine. For N20, N55, and diesel models, an upgraded front-mount intercooler (FMIC) is strongly recommended. For B58 and S55 models with air-to-water charge cooling, heat exchanger upgrades help stabilize intake temps during sustained load.
Can a hybrid turbo run on a stock engine block?
Yes. Falcon Turbos hybrid turbochargers are built to deliver reliable power within the factory structural tolerances of the B48, B58, N55, S55, and B47, N47 engines when paired with a professional custom ECU calibration and appropriate fuelling.
Will an aftermarket downpipe cause an engine management light (EML)?
Catless downpipes and some high-flow sports-cat configurations trigger an O2 sensor catalyst efficiency warning (P0420/P0430) on petrol models, as well as GPF pressure warnings on 2018+ vehicles. This requires an appropriate Stage 2 ECU calibration or emulator harness.
